Approximately 15 % of the tenants in Warande are expats; cas of February 2019 we host  fellow-residents from India (3 tenants), Romenia, Czech Republic, Marocco, Italy, Germany and Ireland.  This website is almost exclusively in Dutch language, however below you will find the  the minimum of background information you will need to get familiar with the function and role of your tenants' committee. Also you will read more on how we intend to keep you in the information loop.

Background

Klankbord Warande is a tenants’ committee  formed late  2014 in order to join forces in advocating the common interests of all tenants in dealing with the landlord, being vb&t.  Through 2015  a number of major security shortcomings have been addressed  which in good cooperation with vb&t and mutual understanding  have been resolved.

Klankbord is a Dutch word which literally means sound-board.  Klankbord Warande listens to  the voice of  all tenants  living in Warande. Next, it produces a common voice and reinforces this as a strong signal in dealing with the vb&t management.  In this way it operates as a sound-board in its original meaning. The other way around it functions as a representative tenants’  body  for prior consultation by the landlord when for example considering new  policy or changes in living conditions.

Klankbord Warande is a very loosely organized tenant association. It has no formal structure or is registered with any government agency, simply because there is no need  to in order to get  recognized by the landlord. It basically consists out of  a very small core group of tenants of which one person acts as the Klankbord Warande point of contact for all internal and external matters. This point of contact is referred to as the coordinator of Klankbord Warande. The idea behind the naming coordinator is that the coordinator, if required or opportune, recruits other tenants and exploits specific skills and expertise under  the Warande residents to form ad hoc working groups to address specific problems. To compensate for the small size of the Klankbord Warande core group, a permanent tenants’ council has been created. This tenants’ council is being consulted by Klankbord Warande for all major issues and the outcome of the discussions in this forum are being regarded by Klankbord Warande as binding and decisions on behalf of all tenants.

With the vision of the immediate environment of Warande to become a better place to live for everyone, Klankbord Warande seeks close coordination and cooperation which its neighbouring sister organization representing the tenants of the Leilinde building .

Though its primary reason of existence remains  ensuring the best possible home for the rent the Warande tenants are paying, another major goal of Klankbord Warande is to contribute within its (modest) means and capabilities  to a common feeling and internal climate of residents all living under the same roof.

Internal communication

As primary means of communication email will be used by Klankbord Warande.  Therefore, you will  be asked to provide an email address; bcc distribution will be applied unless you provided explicitly permission to display your mail adress for Klankbord Warande internal communication purposes. Through so called service messages information will be distributed about outages and malfunctions  of common installations and services in the building including its impact and the estimated time until repair.  Service messages are written in Dutch language however above the message an English summary is provided usually limited to the key points or the main message.  The idea is that for a complete, verbatim translation you put the text yourself through your Google Translate or another translation tool.

Since end 2018 in addition a closed group (called Warande) on Facebook ( account name: Warande Gagelboschplein) has been lanched exclusively for the residents of Warande. It's primary purpose is to provide for all residents an own internal communication platform. Additionally this platform is also being used by Klankbord Warande to disseminate other information and more frequent news related to the living climate on Gagelboschplein than through email.  So if you have a Facebook account, join us also there!
